Dog Training Tips There are many reasons for basic obedience training. Beyond the level required for basic companionship, owners may want to train their dog to heed basic commands to make them more pleasant for themselves, other people, and other pets. Training is also an excellent way to bond with your dog and only requires simple persistence and ample time for it to be successful. For the benefit of most dog owners and trainers, we have provided a few dog training tips to help. |

Here are some quick Dog Training Tips to help get you started:
When you give commands while using an electric pet collar, there is a certain tone that should be used based on the command being given. For commands such as "come", you should use a happy and friendly voice. For other commands like "sit" and "stay", you will want a lower and firmer tone to your voice. Always praise your dog or offer him or her treats when they have learned a new command after strenuous training. Positive reinforcement is the best type of reinforcement. Patience is key when you are training with your dog. Focus on a single command each session and end it on a positive note. Dogs are very smart and will pick up all your commands in time. After each training session, spend some time playing. You dog will associate the time spent with you as fun and anticipate the next training session. It is always good to have the right tool for the job. If you use a collar that produces too weak of a pulse for your large dog, you will not get the results you want. If you use a collar that is too large for your small dog, it will be uncomfortable, too distracting, and be a negative experience for the dog. You do not have to worry about the size as most electric pet collars now clearly indicate what size of dog the training collar is intended for. Be sure to pick a quiet area when training your dog to do tricks or obey commands. A secluded back yard works best if you want to train your dog for basic obedience and commands. If you try to train your dog in a public park, they will be easily distracted and might not take well to the training. Do not hit your dog! Any time your dog displays an undesirable behavior, be firm and friendly. Remember, dogs are man's best friend. Staying positive will provide your dog with proper encouragement. Dog Treats During and after training be sure to give your dog a reward for their accomplishments. A tasty reward is an excellent tool for motivation to improve performance and maintain good behavior. If you think a piece of kibble or a dog biscuit it not a suitable reward, you can always search the net for dog treat recipes and start making a sumptuous reward for your obedient dog. Here are some recipes from the web that can help you have a well-rewarded and good-behaving dog in a short matter of time. Beefy Doggie Biscuits Ingredients: Directions: Preheat your oven to 350Ÿ. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl with a fork. Drop by small spoonfuls onto a greased pan. You can flatten slightly or you can cut into fun shapes such as bones, paws, ect.
